65-Year-Old Man Drowns While Bathing in Bhagirathi, Search Underway

**Kalna:** A 65-year-old man has gone missing after drowning while bathing in the Bhagirathi River. The incident has caused a stir in the area under the Kalna police station in East Bardhaman. The missing person's name is **Ramprasad Ghosh (65)**. He resides in the Surjapur area of the Atghoria Simlan Panchayat under the Kalna police station.

According to local sources, on Saturday, Ramprasad Ghosh went to bathe at the pier of the Peerinagar JBM brick kiln on his bicycle. While bathing, he suddenly began to drown in the waters of the Bhagirathi. After floating for some time, he submerged again near the Peerinagar ferry ghat.

As soon as the incident was noticed, the boatmen at the ghat tried to rescue him by throwing bamboo. However, within moments, Ramprasad disappeared under the water. Local residents then informed the police and administration.

The missing person's son stated that his father had gone to bathe at the Peerinagar JBM brick kiln ghat on his bicycle. The accident occurred suddenly there.

Upon receiving the news, the Kalna police arrived at the scene. Present were the IC of Kalna police station, the IC of Dhatrigram outpost, and other police officials. **Disaster management workers** have begun a search for the missing person.

As of 3 PM on Saturday, there has been no trace of Ramprasad Ghosh. A search operation is underway in the waters of the Bhagirathi for him. Family members, along with local residents, are also waiting by the riverbank.
