Saffron Touch on Kolkata International Film Festival Logo! New Colour Replaces Blue as 32nd KIFF Begins December 16
**Kolkata:** Following the political changeover in the state, a change has also come to the Kolkata International Film Festival. The logo of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF), long known for its blue colour, now carries saffron. On Sunday, November 1, the new logo of the 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival was officially unveiled at a press conference at Nandan. The new logo was inaugurated by actor Mithun Chakraborty, adviser to the Department of Information and Culture.
Present at the event were Prosenjit Chatterjee, Hiran Chatterjee, Papiya Adhikari, Jeet, Rudranil Ghosh, Sudeshna Roy, Harnath Chakraborty and several other familiar faces of Tollywood. The logo for this year's festival has been designed by filmmaker Sandip Ray, son of legendary director Satyajit Ray.
This will be the first festival organised by the new government after the change in state government. Several meetings have already been held on preparations for the festival. At the Bijaya event, Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari had said the 32nd Kolkata International Film Festival would be held from December 16 to 23.
The inaugural event of this year's festival also promises a special surprise. The festival is expected to begin with a grand programme at Victoria Memorial premises. The theme song for the festival has been composed by Ratul Bandyopadhyay. Meanwhile, actor and MLA Hiran Chatterjee will host the inaugural event.
The guest list also holds surprises. Several stars from Bollywood and South Indian cinema have been invited. The list includes South superstar Rajinikanth, Prabhas, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal, Anupam Kher, Johnny Lever, Kangana Ranaut, Anurag Basu and Madhur Bhandarkar. There is also a possibility of a Hollywood actress attending, but her name and presence have not been disclosed as they are yet to be finalised.
Every year the Kolkata International Film Festival offers a special lineup of films in various languages from India and abroad for cinephiles. However, since this festival is being held under the new government after a political changeover, extra interest has naturally built up in cine circles. From the change in logo colour to the inaugural arrangements, all eyes are now on how much new excitement the 32nd KIFF brings.
