**Birbhum:** Once again, the Padma Shri awardee folk artist Ratan Kahar's popular song **‘Bodoloker Biti Lo’** is at the center of controversy. Allegations have arisen regarding the distortion of his song on social media and the failure to mention the creator's name. The veteran artist has approached the cyber crime unit regarding the incident.

The family of Ratan Kahar claims that his popular song, written and composed by him, has been misused and distorted on a social media page. Moreover, the actual creator's name, Ratan Kahar, has not been mentioned in that presentation. As soon as the issue came to light, the artist and his son Debashis Kahar protested.

Ratan Kahar began his musical career by singing Bhadu songs. Later, he started writing and composing songs himself. In 1972, his creation **‘Bodoloker Biti Lo’** gained immense popularity among the masses. The song became even more well-known when sung by artist Sapna Chowdhury.

This song has previously sparked significant controversy. In 2020, after the release of rapper Badshah's popular song **‘Laal Genda Phool’**, questions arose regarding the similarities in the tune and lyrics with ‘Bodoloker Biti Lo’. Intense discussions began on social media regarding the matter. Later, it was reported that Badshah apologized to Ratan Kahar and also provided him financial assistance.

For a long time, Ratan Kahar has established his unique identity in the world of folk music. This artist, a resident of Siuri in Birbhum, was honored with the **Padma Shri** award in 2024. His popular songs remain one of the most recognized names in Bengali folk culture.

However, despite gaining fame and respect, this veteran artist has had to struggle with financial problems for a significant part of his life. Now, with the new allegations of distorting his creation on social media, questions have arisen again regarding the rights and proper recognition of artists' works.

In light of the new allegations, Ratan Kahar has approached the cyber crime unit. His family hopes that the administration will investigate the matter based on the allegations and take necessary action.
