Sudden Joint Drive on AC Long-Distance Buses! Police, Fire Department and Transport Department Inspect Fire Safety Systems

**Durgapur:** To curb fire incidents in long-distance AC buses, the administration has now become active. To ensure passenger safety, the fire department, transport department and traffic police carried out a sudden joint drive on multiple air-conditioned (AC) buses in the City Centre area of Durgapur. In Monday's drive, officials checked how effective the firefighting systems of the buses are.

Notably, if a bus catches fire while moving, it can quickly turn into a severe blaze. Especially in AC bus fires, thick smoke and panic make it a major challenge to safely evacuate passengers. Keeping in mind several past fire incidents in long-distance buses, this drive is considered a precautionary measure.

During the drive, officials checked whether the buses had fire extinguishers, whether they were working properly, and whether other necessary equipment to control fire was in stock.

Beyond firefighting equipment, officials also inquired about how prepared the bus drivers and staff are in case of an emergency. The safety management of the bus authorities was also examined.
