ED raids industrialist Anil Agarwal's house in Barakar, Kulti; investigating team arrives in five cars, sparking stir
**Kulti:** Early Friday morning, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted a raid at the house of industrialist Anil Agarwal in Barakar, the industrial hub of Kulti. The operation has caused considerable stir in the Hanuman Charai area of Barakar, which falls under the Kulti assembly constituency. Around 6 am on Friday, a team of ED officials arrived at Anil Agarwal's house in five cars. A lengthy search and investigation followed.
It is learnt that Anil Agarwal is the brother of Sonu Agarwal, owner of 'Jai Shree Group of Industrialists'. ED officials have been searching inside his house since Friday morning. Until 11 am, the investigating team was seen examining various documents inside the house.
Sources said Sonu Agarwal, Lala and several others face multiple complaints and cases related to assets disproportionate to income and illegal coal trading. The raid is primarily believed to have been carried out based on these cases. Sources also claim that some of these cases are currently pending in court.
The ED investigating team included women officials as well as members of the Central Armed Police Forces. Security around the house was tightened during the operation. Special surveillance was maintained to prevent unauthorised persons from entering the premises. Movement of locals was also reportedly restricted.
Eyewitnesses said the investigating officials first arrived at the spot in five cars. About an hour later, two cars left the location. The remaining three cars were seen standing outside the house for a long time. The continuing search operation since morning has created curiosity and excitement in the area.
However, it is still unclear exactly which documents, important information or materials were recovered during the operation. The ED has not yet issued any formal statement on why the house of Anil Agarwal in particular was searched.
Overall, the ED operation in Barakar is considered highly significant amid the investigation into illegal coal trading and assets disproportionate to income. All eyes are now on the progress of the probe.
