Information was given to the forest department. The forest workers quickly reached the spot, carried out a rescue operation and safely pulled the jackal out of the well. Later, after a preliminary check, the jackal was released in healthy condition into a nearby forest, its natural habitat.
According to local sources, the jackal was seen trapped in a well inside the house of the Chatterjee family near the Durga temple in Rupnarayanpur. It is initially believed that the jackal lost its way in the night and entered the human settlement. Then, due to carelessness, it fell into the deep well of the house.
As soon as the family members noticed the matter in the morning, they informed the forest department without wasting time. After receiving the information, the Rupnarayanpur forest department quickly launched a rescue operation. On the instructions of officer Tamalika Chandra, a special rescue team reached the spot.
The forest workers tried for a long time and finally pulled the jackal safely out of the well. Local residents also cooperated with the forest workers in the rescue work. After the rescue, a preliminary check of the jackal was conducted. As it was physically healthy, it was later released in a nearby forest.
Members of the Chatterjee family and local residents expressed relief that the wild animal had returned safely to the forest. Their statement said the quick action taken by the forest department to save a wild animal in distress was commendable.
This incident once again showed how important it is to inform the forest department quickly when wildlife is in trouble in human settlements, and how crucial local people's cooperation is. Such initiatives also carry an important message for peaceful coexistence of humans and wildlife and for wildlife conservation.
