Students-Laden Pulkar Driving Wrong Way on National Highway! Strict Action by Traffic Police, Several Bikes, Cycles and Totos Detained

Durgapur: Bikes, cycles, totos and even a pulkar carrying students have been accused of violating traffic rules by driving the wrong way on the national highway. As soon as the matter came to notice, traffic police took strict action. Under the leadership of the ACP Traffic, a special drive was conducted and several bikes, cycles, pulkars and totos were detained. Violators were also given a stern warning.

The drive was conducted at the Mengate area of the Asansol to Bardhaman national highway under the Durgapur Traffic Guard. It is alleged that several bike and cycle riders were travelling the wrong way in the area. A similar allegation has been raised against a pulkar carrying students of a private English-medium school.

Questions have also been raised about the safety of school children when the pulkar was driven the wrong way with them inside. There are concerns that such rule-breaking movement on a busy road like the national highway could cause an accident at any time.

To control the situation, a drive was conducted under the leadership of ACP Traffic (3) Rajkumar Malakar of the Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate. Several bikes, cycles, pulkars and totos were detained during the drive. It is reported that the air was let out of some cycles. Police officers also warned bike and cycle riders strictly.

Police said that if such traffic rule violations occur on the national highway in future, stricter legal action will be taken against those involved. According to traffic sources, legal steps have already been taken against several people.

Police are emphasising adherence to traffic rules on the national highway, especially keeping the safety of school students in mind. It has been reported that such drives will continue in the coming days to stop wrong-way movement.
