Battleground in Malda's Mothabari over land dispute! Beaten to death, one dead, three injured including SSB jawan

**Malda:** Mothabari in Malda turned bloody following a long-running land dispute. A clash between two groups over going to cultivate the land led to the death of one person. A total of four people, including an SSB jawan, were injured. Two of the injured are currently undergoing treatment at Malda Medical College and Hospital. The incident has created widespread tension in the area.

The incident took place in Hamidpur area under Mothabari police station in Malda. Local resident and SSB jawan Shashank Sekhar Yadav alleged that his family owns about 50 bighas of ancestral land. He further alleged that some miscreants have forcibly occupied a part of about 300 bighas of devottar property. He claimed that despite repeatedly appealing to various authorities to free the land, no relief has been provided.

According to the allegation, on Sunday afternoon Shashank Sekhar Yadav went to cultivate the land along with farmers. At that time a group of miscreants attacked them and brutal beating began. Four people were injured in the incident. When they were rescued and taken to Malda Medical College and Hospital, a man named Shibcharan Mondal (50) was declared dead. Injured SSB jawan Shashank Sekhar Yadav and farmer Ujjal Mondal are currently under treatment in hospital.

According to police sources, a complaint has been lodged against a total of 21 people in this incident. Police have already detained 13 people. However, the main accused Sanatan Mondal has reportedly gone into hiding since the incident.

Police from Mothabari police station have started investigating the entire incident. Tension has spread in the area over the clash and death linked to the land dispute. Police are examining the roles of the accused and the actual cause of the incident.
