**Uluberia:** Once again, a stir spread in Bahirtafa village of Uluberia over the rescue of a Kalnagini snake. Suddenly the snake jumped down from a tree and entered a house. Seeing this, panic spread across the entire area.

According to local sources, a Kalnagini snake suddenly jumped from a tree in Bahirtafa village and went inside a house. As the news spread, local residents began gathering at the house. Civic volunteer Bapi Malik of Uluberia police station contacted environmentalist Debashish Santra after learning of the incident.

Debashish Santra reached the spot quickly after getting the news. There he saw that the head of the house had trapped the snake in a plastic jar. Besides rescuing the snake, he made the villagers present aware about snakes.

Debashish Santra said the Kalnagini snake is non-venomous. He advised people not to hit the snake out of unnecessary panic. The environmentalist then released the snake safely in a suitable environment in the same area.

With the snake rescued and safely returned to nature, calm returned to the village. He also appealed to people not to kill snakes out of panic when they see them, but to inform the forest department or experienced snake rescuers instead.
