**Malda, August 26:** The death of 10 newborns in a single day at Malda Medical College and Hospital has caused a stir. As soon as the matter came to light, the health department demanded a complete report from the authorities of Malda Medical. The hospital authorities have also confirmed the death of 10 newborns in one day.

According to medical sources, this incident occurred in the second week of August. Among the 10 newborns who died on that day, only two were born at Malda Medical College and Hospital. The other eight were referred to Malda Medical in critical condition from various hospitals and nursing homes.

The hospital sources claim that several of the deceased newborns had serious health issues such as respiratory distress, jaundice, and heart problems. Most of the babies brought in from outside were admitted to Malda Medical in extremely critical condition, according to the authorities.

Regarding the incident, the superintendent of Malda Medical College, Prosenjit Bar, stated that 10 newborns have died in one day. However, only two of them were born at Malda Medical College. The other eight were referred from outside in serious condition.
