Heavy Rain Warning in Four Districts of South Bengal on Friday, Forecast of Strong Winds in Kolkata

**Kolkata:** The monsoon's impact in South Bengal is still ongoing. Like the past few days, there is a possibility of rain along with thunderstorms in almost all districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, on Friday. The weather department has issued a **yellow alert** for all districts of South Bengal. In particular, **heavy rain (7 to 11 centimeters)** has been forecasted for **South 24 Parganas, East Medinipur, West Medinipur, and Jhargram** districts.

According to the weather department, the **monsoon trough currently extends from Jaisalmer to Kathi over the northeastern Bay of Bengal.** This weather situation has created a favorable environment for rain across South Bengal.

In the remaining districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, there may be light to moderate rain along with **strong winds blowing at a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.** However, currently, there is **no special alert issued for fishermen going to sea.**

The weather department has stated that **the intensity of storms and rains in South Bengal may decrease somewhat from Saturday.** Although scattered rain will continue, there is currently no situation warranting a warning. However, there is a possibility of heavy rain again in **four districts of South Bengal on Wednesday.**

On the other hand, **although there is no possibility of heavy rain in North Bengal on Friday,** a yellow alert has been issued for rain with thunderstorms. However, **heavy rain may return to several districts of North Bengal from Monday.**

In particular, **Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Kalimpong** may experience intermittent heavy rain until next Thursday. In other districts of North Bengal, scattered rain will continue, although there is currently no need for a major warning there.

The weather department advises that it is safe to avoid open spaces during thunderstorms and strong winds and to follow necessary precautions.
