Devastating Fire in a Pile of Dry Jute Sticks in Shantipur, Local Residents and Firefighters Save Homes

**Shantipur:** A sudden blaze erupted in a pile of dry jute sticks. On Thursday afternoon, a severe panic spread in the Saha Pukur area of Ward 19 of Shantipur Municipality due to the fire incident. However, thanks to the quick arrival of the fire brigade and the efforts of local residents to extinguish the flames, the adjacent houses were saved from a major disaster.

According to local sources, the fire broke out around 12 PM on Thursday at the residence of Kartik Biswas in the Saha Pukur area. The fire somehow ignited in the pile of dry jute sticks stored inside the house. Due to the presence of dry jute sticks, the fire quickly escalated to a terrifying size. The area was engulfed in flames and thick smoke.

As the area is densely populated, there was a fear that the fire would spread rapidly to neighboring houses. Panic ensued among local residents, leading to a rush. The Shantipur fire station was notified. A fire engine quickly arrived at the scene.

Before the firefighters arrived, local residents also took action to control the fire. They began fetching water in buckets to extinguish the flames. Later, through the joint efforts of the fire brigade and the locals, the fire was finally brought under control.

Thanks to the rapid control of the fire, significant damage was avoided. The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are being investigated.
