22 Buffalo Calves Rescued from 14-Wheeler Truck in Falsidewa, Driver Arrested

**Falsidewa, August 28:** During a naka checking, a 14-wheeler truck was stopped and 22 buffalo calves were rescued. The truck has been seized by the police for transporting the animals without valid documents. The truck driver has been arrested in the incident. On Friday, this incident created a stir in the Bijlimoni area under Falsidewa police station.


According to police sources, on Friday around 11:55 AM, SI Rakesh Brahma of Bidhannagar IC was conducting naka checking in the Bhimbar area with his police team. At that time, a suspicious 14-wheeler truck was stopped near the Indian Oil petrol pump in the Bijlimoni area. The truck's number is **AS-25FC-2075**.


The police claim that a search of the truck revealed a total of 22 buffalo calves of various ages and sizes. The investigating officers then asked to see the necessary documents related to the transportation of the animals.


It is alleged that the truck driver could not show valid purchase documents or invoices for the animals, transportation permits, necessary vehicle papers, and mandatory veterinary/medical health certificates.


Subsequently, following the procedure, a seizure list was prepared, and the truck along with the 22 buffalo calves was seized through videography. The truck driver **Musharup Haque (27)** was arrested around 12:35 PM. According to police sources, the arrested driver is a resident of Khairibari area under Barpeta Road police station in Assam.


The 22 rescued buffalo calves have been kept in safe custody at the Bijlimoni shed or pound. The police have initiated the process of filing a case under appropriate sections regarding the incident.


The police of Falsidewa are investigating where the animals were being taken from and to, what the real purpose of the transportation was, and whether anyone else is involved in this incident.
