Rare Chameleon Found on Guava Tree in Ghatala, Rescued by Forest Department
**Ghatala:** A rare chameleon weighing about 500 grams was spotted on a guava tree in the village of Kuran in the Ghatala police station area of West Medinipur district, causing quite a stir. Upon receiving the news, forest department workers arrived at the scene and rescued it.
According to local sources, family members of Kartik Pandit, a resident of Kuran village, suddenly spotted the chameleon on their guava tree. The sighting of this unfamiliar creature sparked curiosity in the area. Subsequently, the forest department was informed.
Upon receiving the news, forest department workers carefully rescued the chameleon at the scene. It was later taken to a safe location.
According to forest department sources, the chameleon is currently listed as an endangered species. Therefore, if a chameleon is spotted anywhere, it is requested to inform the forest department promptly instead of capturing or harming it.
While the presence of this rare creature in a home tree naturally caused excitement, the local residents felt relieved that it was safely rescued due to the prompt action of the forest department.
