Extra Work During Pujo, Promised Wages Not Paid! Health Workers Protest at Kolkata Municipal Corporation

Kolkata: Despite doing extra work during Pujo, the promised wages are not being received. Following this allegation, temporary contract workers of the health department staged a protest at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. Even after working for a long time, the protesters erupted in anger as their dues had not been paid. They demanded prompt payment of the pending wages.

Protesting health workers allege that the Kolkata Municipal Corporation authorities had promised payment in exchange for extra work during Durga Puja. Based on that promise, they performed additional duties during Pujo. But even after the work was done, they have not received their dues so far.

Workers say that despite working extra hard during Pujo, they have not received their wages and are facing financial hardship. They allege that despite repeated promises, no solution has been reached regarding payment.

In this situation, temporary contract workers of the health department joined the protest at the Kolkata Municipal Corporation demanding their legitimate dues. They have urged that the pending wages for extra work during Pujo be paid immediately.
