Dilip Ghosh appears at Jhargram court in 2016 old case, development meeting held at zilla parishad
Jhargram: Panchayat Minister of the state Dilip Ghosh appeared at Jhargram court on Tuesday in a 2016 old case. Filed under several sections, including the Arms Act and provisions related to inflammatory statements, the case also saw Tushar Ghosh, then a member of the BJP state committee, appear in court with him. Questioning of the accused had been scheduled for the day.
Dilip Ghosh's lawyer Archisman Sinha said that on December 10, 2016, Suman Sahu, a resident of Nayagram, filed a written complaint at Jhargram police station against Dilip Ghosh and Tushar Ghosh. Based on that complaint, police registered a case under Sections 25/27 of the Arms Act and Sections 341, 505, 506 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
According to the lawyer, Dilip Ghosh was then the MLA of Kharagpur, so the hearing of the case began in the MP-MLA court in Kolkata. The case was later transferred to Jhargram court. Two accused had earlier appeared in court in this case. On this day, they were summoned for questioning at the JM court of Jhargram District Court. The next hearing date has also been fixed.
Meanwhile, when Dilip Ghosh reached the court premises, BJP workers and supporters welcomed him with a bouquet of flowers. Present were MLA Laxmikanta Sau, BJP state committee member Sukhamay Satpathy, district president Tufan Mahato and several other party leaders.
After finishing work at the court, the Panchayat Minister went to the zilla parishad. There he held a meeting with Sabhadhipati Gauri Taldhi and various committee chairpersons on the district's development works. At the meeting, the minister directed that a special project be prepared to prevent erosion of the Subarnarekha and Kansabati rivers. He also said the project would be prepared and submitted to the concerned department. Additionally, Committee Chairperson Kamal Mahato said the minister had directed trench digging under the VB-G RAM-G scheme to tackle the problem of elephants.
On another front, Dilip Ghosh also spoke about the incident in Debra where an MLA was assaulted in a clash between two BJP factions. His clear statement was, “No one is above the law. Legal action will be taken if necessary.”
He also alleged corruption under the Trinamool government and claimed multiple scandals in education, health, sports and culture. He also criticised the former chief minister.
With a court appearance in an old case on one side, a development meeting at the zilla parishad and political remarks on the other, political circles have started discussing Dilip Ghosh's Jhargram visit on Tuesday.
