Indian Coast Guard Reaches Cyclone-Hit Ganjam in Odisha with Relief, Food and Drinking Water Delivered by Helicopter

Ganjam: The Indian Coast Guard has come forward to support the people of Ganjam district in Odisha who were affected by Cyclone 'Arnab'. The Coast Guard launched a special relief operation to quickly deliver essential services to people devastated by the natural disaster. Under the initiative of the force, food supplies and drinking water were delivered by air to the affected areas.**

It is learnt that during this relief operation, two Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) were deployed from the Indian Coast Guard's Air Enclave in Bhubaneswar. The helicopters flew multiple times over the areas affected by the cyclone and delivered relief materials. The main objective of this operation was to quickly reach residents of areas where the supply of daily essentials was disrupted due to the cyclone.

Normal life has been disrupted in several areas of Ganjam district due to the cyclone. In such a situation, it became extremely urgent to deliver food and clean drinking water to the affected people. As there were difficulties in delivering relief by road, the Coast Guard took the initiative to use air routes to provide quick assistance.

The entire relief operation was carried out in close coordination with the Odisha state administration. Necessary supplies were arranged to be delivered to affected areas in consultation with the administration. As a result, it became possible to deliver urgent relief to the affected people quickly.

It may be noted that the Indian Coast Guard plays an important role in rescue operations and humanitarian assistance during natural disasters, cyclones, floods and other emergencies. Despite adverse weather, the professional skill, preparedness and swift action of the force's personnel help reduce the sufferings of many people.

This relief operation in Ganjam is also one such example. Through rapid deployment of the force, continuous helicopter services and coordination with the administration, the Indian Coast Guard has once again set an example of humanity.
